Francis Coppola Reserve wines are made of the finest quality with limited production. Exclusive to the winery and our online store.
Made from grapes of the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma, it has aromas of dark plum, raspberry, black currant, vanilla, pie spice, a touch of leather and roasted fennel. Flavors are dried plum and cherry with a white pepper spice and a long, dry finish.
Did you know that Syrah and Shiraz are the same varietal? Winemakers sometimes choose one name over the other to reflect the style of their wine. Shiraz (typically from Australia) connotes the riper, fruitier flavor of the New World, while Syrah connotes the more elegant or Old World characteristics of the varietal.

Francis Coppola Reserve Petite Sirah Dessert Wine 2006 -- 100% Ruby's Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley! Petite Sirah is ideal for creating a Port-style wine, which is produced by stopping fermentation while there is still sugar left in the wine and then adding grape brandy to the tank. The resulting wine becomes higher in alcohol, as you may well imagine, and well suited for aging. Ports made from Petite Sirah typically offer juicy flavors of baked blackberry pie, sugared plums and sweet black cherries as well as notes of dark chocolate and seasoned wood. Pair our Petite Sirah Port with chocolate or toffee desserts, hard or bleu cheeses, and toasted nuts for a decadent after dinner treat.

Every bottle of Director's Cut honors the history of filmmaking. The graphic band which encircles the bottle was used in a 19th century invention called a zoetrope, which produces the illusion of moving pictures.
We source our Zinfandel grapes from Dry Creek Valley, specifically vineyards on the benchlands and hillsides, which are farmed using two distinctive methods. The combination of the area’s climate, our vineyard sites, and these two methods produces excellent fruit with intensely concentrated flavor. We also blend in small amounts of Petite Sirah for added structure.
Francis Coppola Reserve Late Harvest Semillion 2006 -- Classic pairings with dessert Semillion include foie gras, fruit tarts, and bleu cheeses. When Semillion grapes are left on the vine beyond the ordinary ripening period they are susceptible to mold called Botrytis Cinerea, also known as “noble rot.” This rather unpleasantsounding condition is the key to making this sweet dessert wine, as it is rot that causes the grapes to shrivel and turn into raisins. Once that happens, the grapes become highly concentrated, tremendously sweet and loaded with exotic flavors and aromas of peach, pineapple, passion fruit, honeysuckle and vanilla bean. Our Semillion is grown in central Alexander Valley at Osborn Ranch, which is composed of gravelly clay loam and part of the long, narrow stretch of this appellation where fog rolls in every evening and lingers until morning. This damp, cool weather condition works perfectly to induce Botrytis Cinerea, which is the only way this dessert wine can be accomplished. In fact, the fruit grown at Osborn Ranch is cultivated . . .

Francis Coppola Reserve Syrah 2006 -- Click here to see a video clip of winemaker Corey Beck discuss the Reserve wines.
Francis Coppola Reserve 2006 Dry Creek Valley Syrah is single vineyard designate from Mounts Vineyard. It is co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier to lift the aromatics and help “set” this varietal’s bright-magenta
color. Enjoy an enticing perfume of cherries, currants, leather and allspice. Generous
flavors of raspberries and black plums finish with a hint of clove, plus smooth, ripe tannins
support a long seductive finish.
Australians have made the varietal incredibly popular (under the name "Shiraz"), but here in California, we do the grape justice too! Dry Creek Valley experiences temperature differentials, with the valley acting
as a funnel to capture marine breezes, which cool the vineyards every evening. Because
there is a substantial difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures, the growing
season lasts longer, so the grapes mature more slowly. This accentuates the . . .
Francis Coppola Reserve Viognier 2007 -- Want to see what our winemaker, Corey Beck, has to say about the Viognier? Click here for a video clip.
Available exclusively through the Rosso & Bianco winery and the online store, Francis Coppola Reserve Viognier 2007 is crafted from 100% Viognier (vee-ohn-yay) grapes grown in the Russian River Valley.
Why try Viognier?
Viognier is a French Rhône wine varietal that is quickly rising to the top as an American favorite and California is its newest realm with about 2000 acres planted. And, as WinePros.com puts it, "Both Chardonnay and Viognier share tropical fruit flavors and a creamy mouthfeel. Even with little or no wood aging, Viognier can be as full-bodied as an oaky Chardonnay, but has much more distinctive fruit character. It also has a typically deep golden color, as well as rich and intense flavor."
Francis Coppola Reserve Chardonnay 2006 -- Click here to see a video clip of winemaker, Corey Beck, talk about our Dutton Ranch Chardonnay.
100% Dutton Ranch designated. Situated beside nearby apple orchards, the Dutton Ranch vineyard rather ironically produces fruit that is reminiscent of apple pie, rich yet sufficiently balanced by a crisp, natural acidity; a factor which allows these wines to age and develop greater complexity over time.
Available exclusively through the Rosso & Bianco winery and the online store, our Francis Coppola Reserve 2006 Chardonnay demonstrates exceptional flavor complexity due to a very long season. Initial impressions of soft, creamy citrus and a hint of minerals give way to luscious flavors of pear, green apple and smoky spice, which build and lengthen toward a finish of ripe fruit and caramel.

To ensure that we get the maximum amount of color and flavor from our Zinfandel grapes, we use
a variety of techniques, which include fermentation in open-top fermenters for approximately one
week and implementing several punch downs a day. We also blend in small amounts of Petite Sirah
for added structure. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for a mere twelve months. That was all
that was necessary given the fully mature internal structure of the grapes and the fact we didn’t want
to mask a single one of this vintage’s amazing aromatic compounds. This wine pushes the envelope
of sheer decadence with an expressive fragrance of briary berries, strawberry jam . . .
Director's Cut Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 -- Wine & Spirits! just gave our previous vintage a 91 point score. This 2006 is already bringing in recognition: "Best of Class" - Los Angeles International Wine CompetitionWhat is the style of the Director's Cut Cabernet? Let winemaker Corey Beck tell you. Click here for a video clip. We chose to make a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon rather than blend in other varietals so that we could create a real terroir wine that demonstrates true varietal character. This vintage experienced a 20% reduction in crop yield. Less fruit enables the grapes to develop more concentration. Not only are the wine’s tannins sweet and mature from the extended growing season, the flavors are ripe, lush and prolonged on the finish because of the fruit’s immense concentration.
Director's Cut Cinema 2006 -- Cinema is a blend comprised of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley and 42% Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley. The resulting wine is very similar in nature to an Italian "Super Tuscan," dark and rich but with an exotic spice character and edge of earthiness.

Director's Cut Chardonnay 2006 -- Hear what winemaker Corey Beck has to say about the Director's Cut Chardonnay! Click here for a video clip.
The Chardonnay is 100% Russian River Valley, an area shaped by a regular intrusion of cooling fog from the Pacific Ocean a few miles to the west. This cools the valley down from its daytime high temperatures by as much as 35 to 40 degrees, allowing Chardonnay grapes to develop full flavor maturity over an extended growing season—often 15 to 20 percent longer than neighboring areas—while retaining their all-important natural acidity. 100% barrel fermented.
